Tinyproxy is susceptible to HTTP request parsing desynchronization due to case-sensitive handling of the Transfer-Encoding header, allowing for security bypasses and denial of service.

Executive summary

A critical HTTP request smuggling vulnerability in Tinyproxy allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass security controls or cause application-level denial of service.

Vulnerability

The application incorrectly performs a case-sensitive comparison of the Transfer-Encoding header against the value "chunked". Because this comparison violates RFC 7230, an unauthenticated attacker can supply a malformed header, such as "Chunked", to desynchronize the proxy from the backend server.

This vulnerability presents a high risk to organizational security, as it allows attackers to bypass Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and other inspection layers that rely on accurate HTTP parsing.
